Renewal is generally handled as e‑Passport,bangLADESH re-issue.

If your Bangladeshi passport is expiring, expired, or needs changes, you normally apply for re-issue.

The official e-Passport form provides a “Reason for Re-Issue” section.

The process in one line

Begin with online application.

Then select overseas application/mission.

Complete the e‑Passport,bangLADESH form.

Pay the applicable fee.

Print the application.

Additionally, contact or book the Bangladesh Embassy in Beirut.

Travel to Beirut for bio metric enrollment.

The embassy processes the application.

Track the passport.

Collect or receive the passport per the mission’s delivery procedure.

Because the applicant is physically in Cyprus, do not assume that completing the online form means the passport application is finished. Bio-metric enrollment is still an important part of the process.

Step 1: Prepare your documents

Before opening the online application, keep these ready.

For a normal passport re-issue

You should have:

Current/previous Bangladeshi passport
NID, if applicable
Online Birth Registration Certificate, preferably English version, where applicable
Previous passport information
Cyprus address and contact information
Active mobile number
Email address
Relevant supporting documents if you want to change information

The official e-Passport instructions say that the application information should correspond with the applicant’s NID or Birth Registration Certificate. They also state that for applicants applying through a Bangladesh mission abroad, an online English Birth Registration Certificate can be accepted in circumstances where the domestic requirements differ.

For re-issue, the official instructions also state that the original previous passport must be presented during the process.

Prepare the relevant supporting document before going to the embassy.

The official e-Passport system says supporting documentation is required where information differs or changes.

Step 2: Go to the official e-Passport website

Use the official Bangladesh e-Passport portal:

The official portal provides an option to Apply Online for e-Passport / Re-Issue.

Avoid applying through an agent’s website or unofficial e-Passport websites.

Step 3: Start the online application

On the official website, select:

Apply Online for e-Passport / Re-Issue

The portal first asks questions about where you are applying from.

Since you are living in Cyprus, you should select the option indicating that you are applying from outside Bangladesh.

The official online portal has a specific on boarding step for determining whether the applicant is applying from Bangladesh or elsewhere.

Step 4: Select your country of application

This is one of the most important parts for someone living in Cyprus.

When the system asks about your current application location, enter/select the appropriate information for your overseas application.

Your present address should be Cyprus if Cyprus is where you currently live.

The official e-Passport instructions state that an overseas application should be submitted to the Bangladesh mission associated with the applicant’s present address.

For Cyprus-based applicants, the relevant Bangladesh diplomatic mission is the Embassy of Bangladesh in Beirut, Lebanon, which provides consular services and lists passport services. The Cyprus diplomatic list also identifies the Bangladesh mission in Beirut and lists a consular post in Cyprus.

Very important

Before paying or submitting the final application, verify that the portal shows the correct Bangladesh mission for your application.

Do not randomly select a Bangladesh passport office in Dhaka simply because it appears in the system.

Step 5: Select “Re-Issue”

If you already have a Bangladeshi e-Passport and want a new passport, select:

Re-Issue

The official application form contains fields for:

Previous passport number
Date of issue
Date of expiry
Reason for re-issue

Example

If your passport is expiring:

Reason for Re-Issue: Expired / Expiring

If your passport has no pages:

If you need another permitted change:

Step 6: Enter your previous passport information

Enter the information exactly as it appears on your current passport.

You will normally need:

Double-check every number.

A single incorrect digit in the passport number or date can create unnecessary problems later.

Step 7: Enter your personal information

The e-Passport application contains personal information such as:

Nationality/citizenship information
NID number
Birth Registration number
Marital status
Profession
Telephone number
Email address

The official form specifies that personal information should be completed according to the applicant’s NID/BRC.

Do not guess

If your passport, NID and birth certificate contain different spellings, stop before submitting and determine which documents/supporting evidence are required for correction.

Do not simply change the spelling because you prefer one version.

Step 8: Enter your permanent address in Bangladesh

This is particularly important for Bangladeshis living in Cyprus.

The e-Passport form includes a separate section for:

You will need information such as:

District
Police station/upazila
Post office
Postal code
Village/city/house
Road/block/sector where applicable

The official form confirms that these fields form part of the application.

Enter your Bangladeshi permanent address accurately.

Step 9: Enter your present address

The application also has a separate:

Applicant’s Present Address

section.

For someone living in Cyprus, your current residential information should reflect your actual present address in Cyprus, as applicable to the form.

The official application form explicitly allows the present address to be Bangladesh or abroad.

This is an important distinction:

Permanent address = Bangladesh

Present address = Cyprus, if you currently reside in Cyprus.

Step 10: Enter parents’ information

The form asks for information about:

Father
Mother
Nationality
NID/Birth Registration information
Profession

Enter the information according to the relevant official documents.

The official e-Passport application form contains dedicated parental information fields.

Step 11: Enter spouse information if applicable

If you are married, the form includes spouse information.

You may need:

Nationality
NID information
Profession

If your marital status or other information has changed since your previous passport, make sure you have the relevant supporting documents.

The official e-Passport guidance specifically identifies marriage/divorce documentation as potentially relevant supporting documentation.

Step 12: Choose passport type

The system will ask you to choose your passport specifications.

For example:

48 pages or 64 pages

and

5-year or 10-year validity, where applicable.

Do not automatically select the cheapest option.

Consider how frequently you travel and how many visa/immigration pages you are likely to need.

The official fee page currently lists separate overseas mission fees based on passport page count and validity.

Step 13: Choose delivery type

The e-Passport system provides different delivery categories.

The current official fee information for Bangladesh missions lists:

However, there is an important point for Bangladeshis in Cyprus.

The official fee page also lists special rates for Bangladesh Mission’s laborers and students, including:

Do not assume you automatically qualify for the student/labor rate. Confirm your eligibility and the currently applicable Beirut mission procedure before making payment.

This is the stage where you should slow down.

The official portal warns applicants to provide accurate information, and the official form states that false information can result in legal action.

Step 15: Pay the passport fee

The e-Passport portal currently supports online payment methods including options such as:

The official fee page lists the available payment mechanisms and overseas mission fees.

Important

The fee shown for a Bangladesh mission may not be the same as the domestic Bangladesh passport fee.

Do not use the Tk 4,025, Tk 5,750 etc. domestic figures for a Beirut application. Those are listed separately from Bangladesh Mission fees.

Step 16: Download and print your application

After completing the online application, save and print the relevant documents.

You should keep:

Payment receipt

Appointment information, if issued

The official e-Passport FAQ identifies the printed application form and summary slip among the documents normally required for enrollment.

I strongly recommend keeping PDF copies on your phone and email as well.

Step 17: Book/contact the Bangladesh Embassy in Beirut

This is where the Cyprus-specific part becomes important.

The official Bangladesh Embassy in Beirut website provides an e-Consular appointment system, including passport-related services.

Before traveling from Cyprus to Lebanon, contact the embassy and confirm:

Whether Cyprus residents can complete e-Passport enrollment through Beirut.
Whether an appointment is required.
Which appointment category should be selected.
Whether bio metric enrollment is available on the date you want.
Whether the original passport and NID/BRC are sufficient for your particular case.
Whether the passport can be collected in Beirut or sent/handled through an available delivery arrangement.
Whether any additional Cyprus-specific documentation is required.

The embassy’s website currently lists Passport under its e-Consular services and provides appointment and status-check facilities.

Step 18: Travel from Cyprus to Beirut for bio metric enrollment

This is the part people sometimes misunderstand.

Completing the online application does not mean you can receive the new passport entirely online.

For e-Passport issuance, bio metric enrollment is required.

Therefore, a Cyprus resident should plan for the physical visit required by the responsible Bangladesh mission.

Bring your original documents.

Step 19: Complete bio metric enrollment

At the embassy/mission, the applicant will go through the required enrollment process.

This may include:

Document verification
Photograph capture
Fingerprints
Signature
Data verification

This is why the applicant normally needs to appear physically.

Step 20: Keep your enrollment information

After bio metric enrollment, keep your:

Application ID / enrollment information / delivery information

You will need this to track the passport.

The Bangladesh e-Passport system provides passport application status facilities, and the Beirut embassy also lists passport status checking through its e-Consular services.

Step 21: Track your passport

Do not immediately panic if the passport does not appear in the system.

Passport production and delivery involve several stages.

Use the official status-checking facilities rather than relying on Facebook groups or agents.

The Beirut embassy website currently provides a Passport Status option under its e-Consular services.

Step 22: Receive/collect the new passport

The exact delivery/collection procedure should be confirmed with the Beirut embassy before traveling to Lebanon.

This is particularly important for someone living in Cyprus because traveling to Beirut again simply to collect a passport can create significant additional cost and logistical problems.

Ask the embassy specifically:

“I am a Bangladeshi citizen residing in Cyprus and I am applying for e-Passport re-issue through the Bangladesh Embassy in Beirut. After bio metric enrollment, how will I receive my new passport?”

Do not rely on another applicant’s experience because delivery procedures can change.

What happens to your old passport?

Do not throw away your old passport.

Your old passport contains your previous travel history, visas and residence-related information.

After receiving the new passport, keep the old passport safely unless the responsible authority instructs you otherwise.

This is especially important if your Cyprus residence documentation or other records contain the old passport number.

Current official information worth knowing

The Bangladesh e-Passport portal’s instructions were updated August 3, 2026, and state that applications can be completed online, photographs generally do not need to be attached, information should correspond with NID/BRC, and overseas applications are submitted through the relevant Bangladesh mission.

The official fee page was updated July 12, 2026 and currently lists the overseas Bangladesh Mission e-Passport fees and payment options.

The Bangladesh Embassy in Beirut’s current website lists Passport, e-Consular appointment booking, and passport status checking among its services.

The Cyprus diplomatic list identifies the Bangladesh Embassy in Beirut and also lists Bangladesh’s consular representation in Cyprus.

One thing I would NOT publish as a definite claim yet

I would not state that every Cyprus-based applicant must physically travel to Beirut and collect the passport there without confirming the current Beirut mission’s exact procedure. The online system and embassy website confirm the mission and passport services, but the public information I found does not clearly spell out the current Cyprus-to-Beirut bio metric and final delivery workflow in enough detail to make that specific claim safely.

For CyprusProbashi, that distinction matters. Better to say “confirm the bio metric and delivery procedure with the Beirut mission before traveling” than send someone on an expensive trip based on an assumption.
